Prince Valiant

Everyone know Hal Fosters stories about Prince Valiant. Would he have used our new purchase as workhorse nowadays? Of course, nice red interior with fancy mopar mats, airconditioning, auto trans and v8.

727TF transmission

Overhaulin the 70' Cuda Torqueflite transmission was an easy task. It takes some hours to inspect all the parts and change clutches, seals and some bearings. Due to low milage all of the hard parts were in pretty good shape.

67' Barracuda

67 Barracuda Formula S package, 273 Commando V8, column shift, Torqueflite tranny, this car I owned in the early 90s, selling it later to my friend Ali who restored it to high standard. It got a nice color, dogdishcaps and a healthy exhaustsound too. Watch the Vid or take a look at Alis Blog. http://schwarzlackenau.blogspot.com/

Overhaulin 70'Cuda 383

Overhaulin Austrian Style, the fish will be restored without hurry and with knowledge of the owner, no prank, no con-Foose-ion, seven months instead of seven days, it will cost hard earned money and in the end nobody will yell "Oh my god".
I have to take care of the 383ci Commando engine and the 727TF transmission. Just a basic overhaul to stock specifications with some blueprinting.

Status 440 Swap '72 Charger

The bigblock 440 is sitting now in the Chargers enginebay. Hooker Super
Competition headers fit quite well. 727 tranny is still out of car. The
transmission tunnel was welded too small during former rustrepairs. I
have to say that the hole car is a piece of crap. I have not seen one
part where I can say whow this one looks nice. Bad chrome, bad interior,
no options, 4 drums without power, 14" wheels, .....
Buhuuu... I am really sad to put my nice little 440 in that car.

Is there anybody out saying "money stinks" ?!

440 T&C engine ready for installation

The overhauled 75' 440 T&C engine is given a new home in a 72' Charger the next days.
Engine has STD bore size mild streetable Crane cam 114LSA and about .500 lift, topped with 2.14 IN, 1.81 EX hardened seat insert 906 heads and Mopar dualplane intake. Nothing fancy for longlasting troublefree operation.

On the picture you see the engine was given a trial fit of the hilborn injector manifold to take measurements for my future Jensen 500ci EFI Hilborn project.

440ci for 73' Barracuda

Last evening we assembled the 440ci engine for a customers 73' Barracuda. Engine got a standard performance job. SpeedPro forged, coated 060 over pistons for a 9.5 to 1 static compression ratio. Pocket ported 452 heads with 2.14, 1.81 stainless valves, new valvetrain and pushrods. First time I use not a proven camshaft design and opted for a new hydraulic grind from CompCams. Named Xtreme Energy XE274H 230/236@50 110LSA 488/491 lift. Should be good for lumpy idle and at least 400nethp with 1 3/4 headers. Intake will be dualplane M1 with 750cfm 3310 Holley and half inch spacer. Completion next week.

New camshaft

A new camshaft was orderd today for the 500ci wedge engine in my Jensen Interceptor. The cam is a custom grind Compcams with 241/247@050/112LSA and 545/545 lift. It is very similar to my current cam Engle 238/244@050/108LSA and 537/545 lift except the fact that the new cam has less overlap to recover idle, vacuum. Should be more suitable to the future Hilborn EFI setup.
I will run the new cam with 1.6 rockers for a total of 581 lift.

Ringfailure Jensen engine

Picture of ringfailure during a 175hp nitrous shot on my 440ci Jensen engine. A quarter inch of chrome came off the SpeedPro topring, most of it was sticking to the piston ringland. Produced a loud squeaking noise at low engine speeds.

All that happened during quartermile run on Pannonia racetrack at end of 2003 season.

Projects

current

- building 440ci engine for 73 Barracuda
- building 440ci engine for a bigblock swap 72 Charger
- servicing Georges #69 Mustang
- assemble & install Josephs headrepaired Aston Martin Vantage engine
- bring my Suzuki Katana 1100 back on the road

future

- fitting hilborn EFI to my Jensen Interceptor
- testing new camshaft in Jensen Interceptor
- restoring old dragster chassis "Ratcatcher" for display
- decision if 75' T&C Chrysler will be kept alive
- restoring 65' Buick tail for display

440ci problem solved!

The 440's overheating problem was a haircrack in the exhaust valveseat of cylinder #4. I have often seen haircracks on Chrysler bigblock heads but this one goes down to the water passage. heads are unleaded 452 castings. Will switch to 906 castings with 2.14, 1.81 valves. Engine will go into a 72' Charger. No decision yet for cam and setup.
